Bio
Dr. Monica McKary is a compassionate, dedicated pediatric dentist with a deep commitment to serving children and families from diverse backgrounds. Her journey into the world of dentistry is rooted in her desire to give back to the community and create a positive impact on the lives of others. A passionate advocate for children, Dr. Monica works tirelessly to ensure that every child, regardless of background or health status, receives the highest standard of care.
Dr. Monica's academic journey began at Butler University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Biology and Spanish. She also minored in Chemistry and was honored with distinctions in both Biology (honors) and Spanish (high honors). Fluent in Arabic and Spanish, Dr. Monica’s multilingual skills enable her to connect with families from a broad spectrum of cultures and backgrounds, ensuring that her patients feel comfortable and understood.
Her motivation to become a dentist stems from her upbringing. Born to Egyptian parents who emigrated to the United States in search of better opportunities for their daughters, Dr. Monica is deeply inspired by her parents' sacrifices. She is determined to use her education and skills to help families from all walks of life, particularly those who may face barriers to accessing quality healthcare. This passion for service led her to participate in a dental mission trip to Guatemala, where she helped treat an underserved Mayan population in need of dental care.
Dr. Monica graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2021 and further advanced her expertise by completing a pediatric residency at NYU Langone in 2025. During her residency, she was selected for a fellowship in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND), an honor that enhanced her ability to provide specialized care to children with complex health needs. Her leadership and dedication to pediatric dentistry were recognized with an award for excellence in the field from IU School of Dentistry.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Monica is also deeply invested in education and community outreach. In her free time, she is writing a children's book designed to make learning about dental hygiene fun and engaging. The book aims to teach young children the importance of brushing their teeth through playful, inviting language and illustrations, helping to create a positive early experience with oral health.
When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Monica enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, their young son, Henry, and their two dogs, Remy and Charlie. Family is at the core of her life, and she cherishes moments spent with her loved ones, including weekly brunches with her mother and cozy movie nights with her sisters.
Driven by kindness, intelligence, and a passion for service, Dr. Monica is committed to improving the lives of children and families, using her skills to make a difference one patient at a time. Her personal and professional philosophy is rooted in the belief that every child deserves access to quality care and the opportunity to thrive.
